Sandra Oh has her hands full with both college controversy and a questionable crush as the main character in Netflix comedy The chair.
The full trailer above features the promotion of Oh’s character, Dr Ji-Yoon Kim, to the chair of the English department at prestigious Pembroke University, where she has to deal with a brewing crisis while s ‘Clearly interesting to the professor at the center, Bill Dobson, played by Jay Duplass (Transparent) – and while being the first woman to chair the department and one of the few staff of color at the university.
The trailer also features a new song from The Linda Lindas, a young all-female punk band whose previous track, “Racist, Sexist Boy,” garnered more than four million views on Instagram.
The chairThe cast of also includes Holland Taylor (Two and a half men) as teacher Joan Hambling, Nana Mensah (13 reasons why) as Professor Yaz McKay, Bob Balaban (The politician) such as Professor Elliot Rentz, David Morse (Treme) like Dean Paul Larson and Everly Carganilla (Yes day) as Ju-Hee “Ju Ju” Kim.
Premiering on Friday August 20, the six-part satire was co-created by Amanda Peet (Dirty Jean), who is also a showrunner, screenwriter and executive producer. Other EPs include Oh and Game of thrones the bosses DB Weiss and David Benioff (of whom the latter is married to Peet).
