‘The Flash’ EP Teases Diggle’s Return From Arrow (Like A Green Lantern?)

If John Diggle looks a little green around the gills when he resurfaces Flash, it is because the Arrow the hero will be dealing with a parcel.

As ArrowWith the series finale drawing to a close, Diggle (played by David Ramsey) was packing his bags to move his family to Metropolis when a meteor crashed nearby, slamming it against a moving van. After shaking the blow, Dig combed through the debris to discover a box that, when opened, emitted a brilliant green light – apparently nodding at the long-speculated fate of Green Lantern.

As previously reported, Ramsey is now set to reprise his role as Diggle in a total of five episodes across Flash (which opens season 7 on March 2), Super girl (date of the last season to be confirmed), Superman and Lois (which starts tonight, February 23) and Batwoman, as well as playing “a mysterious role” during Legends of tomorrowthe sixth season (date of the premiere to be confirmed).

During TVLine Season 7’s in-depth Q&A (posting later this week), we asked showrunner Eric Wallace what FlashDig’s specific plans for Dig are. “Boy, this is a spoiler!” he replied with a warm laugh, before offering a tease for what was to come.

“The last time we saw Diggle he had a situation at the end of Arrow that he had to deal with, ”Wallace recalled,“ so he comes in to help Team Flash in the second half of the season by bearing the brunt of this ‘problem’. And the question is: how can he help Team Flash when he has something even bigger in mind? And it is what is the story.

Addressing Diggle’s long teased fate as the Green Lantern, Arrowverse EP Marc Guggenheim told TVLine over a year ago: “Greg [Berlanti], David and I had a lot of conversations about David’s future in the Arrowverse, both in front of [of] and behind the camera, and there are a lot of ideas that we get attached to that are very exciting for us…. We just have some great ideas for next season.
