Oswald Cobblepot is getting his own series as HBO Max is currently developing a Penguin series that could be linked to The batman.

Deadline brings word that it’s not clear whether Colin Farrell, who plays Penguin in The batman, will reprise the role for the next show. The series will focus on Cobblepot’s past and show his rise to power in Gotham’s seedy underbelly rather than him as an established linchpin. The character has a rich history of live appearances as Danny DeVito played the famous penguin in BAtman Returns and Robin Lord Taylor portrayed him in Gotham.
The next Penguin series is reportedly in development and will be produced by The batmanIt’s Dylan Clark and Matt Reeves. This is a joint project between 6th and Idaho, DC Entertainment, Dylan Clark Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

This is not the first spin-off of The batman be developing. There’s also a show centered around a rogue cop from the Gotham Police Department that will serve as a prequel to the movie that Joe Barton will serve as showrunner. This will take place in the first year of Batman, while the film will take place in the second year of the Capped Crusader.
