Fleeing criminals can get a head start in Law and Order: SVUis the coming season.
Mariska Hargitay’s recent ankle injury will be “addressed in the season premiere,” a procedural representative told TVLine exclusively, leading us to believe captain Olivia Benson may have to refrain from serving one or two search warrants.
As Hargitay showed to followers of his social media accounts in July, she broke her ankle earlier this month and needed surgery to repair the damage. The incident led pal / elder Mike and Molly star Melissa McCarthy for delivering a very public show of support, which Hargitay also shared via Instagram, saying, “It might be worth breaking my ankle for.”
Photos of Hargitay on the set As the series began filming, Season 23 showed Hargitay using crutches during his recovery. According to the show’s rep, however, the crutches will not appear on screen.
On a related note (and because we spent way too much time looking at Hargitay’s Instagram feed today): this dress sound familiar to someone? Maybe like the one pictured on the right? The fact that the actress wears it in a scene in the upcoming season implies that Season 23 will pick up right after the events of Fin and Phoebe’s non-marriage in the Season 22 finale, or feature a flashback to it. (‘ship -tastic) episode.
SVU returns with a two-hour premiere on Thursday 23 September at 8 / 7c, followed by Law and order: organized crimeSeason 2 premiere at 10 p.m. (Go here for all of NBC’s fall premiere dates.)
