With only a fortnight in the competition, the cuts on American Idol become brutal. Case in point: Mother’s Day Sunday episode, which surprised viewers by ending with Arthur Gunn and Hunter Metts eliminations.
Naturally, none of the contestants received a proper shipment during the actual broadcast, but at least Idol gives fans a chance to (sort of) say goodbye via YouTube.
“Thanks for watching and supporting, first of all,” said Gunn, who was voted into this season’s Top 10 after finishing second last season. “This is my last night here this season, so I wanted to thank you all for your support, as you always do. Take care of yourself and peace. “
Next up is Metts, who says, “Thank you once again, so sincerely for joining me on this journey. It was a blast, and I have only good things to say, so I hope you keep following what I’m doing. I’m really happy to show you the rest. “
With Metts and Gunn out of the game, we end up with Chayce Beckham, Casey Bishop, Caleb Kennedy, Grace Kinstler and Willie Spence in the Season 19 Top 5.
